The dot pads I use so many of comes in two variations. Top stapled, or top spiral bound.
They are mostly the same. How the pages hang together is the only difference. Plus I think the stapled one are a bit cheaper.
The big advantage to the stabled ones is the theyāre more compact and there isnāt really anything that can break on them. But is isnāt very convenient to use multiple pages at a time.
While the big advantage on the spiral bound ones is that it is much easier to flip over pages and use more than one page at a time. But the spiral is very easy to get stuck in stuff going in and out of bags and they have a bit extra bulk.
I have gone back and forth on my preference 3 times a year for as long as I can remember. But in general I think the spiral bound ones are better. But sometimes I prefer the stable bound ones.

I recently bought a A5 Clipboard from Penco.
It was originally on the short list of binder options, but I decided to get it for a compact writing surface. And I really like it as a thing to have when Iām writing on a soft notebook on the couch.

Iāve recently gotten really into the heavier metal Kawco Pens. So not so much the aluminum kind, but I have a Brass one, and recently I got a steel one. Both of them have a really nice heft to them that I love.
Both of them immediately became go to pens days after getting them.
Luckily there arenāt too many heavy ones available

I got this pen a while back after looking for another pen like my Kaweco Sport Brass. I really love the heavy metal Kaweco Sport models.
And just like the Brass this Steel became one of my go to pens immediately.

I bought this brass clip from Travelers Company. It was too expensive, but looks way too cool. I use it to mark my current position in my Hobonichi planner and Iāve stuck a few photos under it.
It is too cool though. And I donāt regret it, no matter how stupid expensive it was.

Iāve bought a bunch of the Hobonichi pencil boards to test out as a way to add some stiffness to various notebooks when I write in them on the couch etc.
They are nice, and improve the situation some. But Iām not sure if something proper hardcover would for most situations be way better.

I pulled out a notebook to draft a few blog posts, how I used to do. Drafted like 4 posts in 10 minutes, would have taken me forever on anything digital.
Same goes every time I just draft a todo list or something on paper.

People will probably lose their shit reading this title.
I use rulers with fountain pens all the time, but not to draw lines. Most of my use of rulers is actually to make it quicker to divide things into sections.
When I use a Rhodia Dotpad for my hit-lists I always split it into three sections if I use it vertically, then I just find a ruler to quickly put a mark on the dot closest to 5cm and 10cm on my ruler, then I put it aways draw 2 lines. Takes me less than 30 seconds, would have spent at least 3 times that doing it in any other way.
If Iām actually putting a pen against the ruler, especially since all of mine are metal, I would certainly use a gel pen or something.

I bought another heavy brass ruler. Not because I need it, but Iām trying to get to a place where I have some stuff I can just leave in the office and not hate having done some when Iām at home.
I got a black one from Ystudio this time. I looks cooler than the one from Ystudio, but not sure how the paint will hold up and look compared to the plain brass one.
But the same awesome heavy feel though.
